When Manal Farris decided it was time to remodel her master bathroom, she knew she wanted the small space to feel much more open. With the help of Bill Wrape with Distinctive Kitchens and Baths and interior designer Scott Paterek of Massimo, both in Little Rock, the bathroom was transformed from cramped quarters to a spacious haven. “I wanted the bathroom to reflect the openness of the rest of the house,” she says.
The re-design of the shower became the key that really transformed the bathroom. Instead of a traditional step-in shower, the floor slopes gently, creating a clean and seamless transition, while the tall glass wall serves as the room’s divider, and a textured glass window provides sunlight without sacrificing privacy. Light blue and cream-colored ceramic tile lighten the once dark space of the shower and allow the natural light to easy bounce from wall to wall.
“We took out a few walls that were in the old bathroom which enabled us to design a larger vanity area,” Bill says. Marble slab countertops play host to the dual sinks. “The Franz Viegener faucets have very clean lines which complement the overall contemporary feel of the space,” Bill says. Recessed lighting affords modern style and highlights the vanity. Manal’s dream of a spacious and open bathroom was perfectly realized through the remodel. “The designers and workmen at Distinctive Kitchens and Baths were able to take such a small space and make it very open. It really feels like a new house, and every one made the process very enjoyable,” she says.
