“I have always loved design,” says Beth Davis, owner of Beth Davis Interiors in Searcy. “My mother worked in design, and in college, I studied fashion merchandising, textiles, interior design and more,” she says. “I believe that creativity carries over from one field to another.” Davis became certified as an interior decorator and began working with clients across the state, and she decided to open her own retail space, Beth Davis Interiors, in Searcy last year. “I didn't want to compete with what was already here,” she says. “I wanted to offer a fresh take on eclectic items that are comfortable enough to dress your house up or down.”
Since opening her store, Davis has worked with clients throughout the country, which has led her to explore a variety of styles and ideas. “I've worked with such a range of clients,” she says. “Young families want more transitional homes, while there are many people drawn to European and Tuscan influences.” For Davis' own home, she enjoys a mix of traditional furnishings with a contemporary edge. “I'm very eclectic in my house,” she says. “There is a base of traditional design, but definitely a contemporary edge.” However, Davis always crafts her clients' spaces to their lifestyle and personalities.
Davis finds one of her talents is re-mixing what a client already has to freshen up the home. “I like to work with some of the client's existing items to keep the home from looking like a single store,” she says. “Rooms should come together over a period of time and living.” Utilizing pieces the client owns and purchasing affordable additions keeps Davis' business budget friendly. “I'm always budget conscious for my clients, and there's no project that is too big or too small,” she says. “Whether a client wants a simple room facelift or an entire house remodel, I enjoy making it happen.”
As an active member in the design community, Davis is exposed to the latest products and techniques, and one of her current favorites is Sunbrella Fabrics. “Sunbrella offers beautiful patterns and textures now, and you cannot discern that they are approved for the outdoors,” she says. “With young families being design-forward and wanting their homes to look nice, but to be durable, these are incredible choices for today's homes with children.” The eco-friendly movement is also prominent in Davis' design business. “Everything is going green and sustainable,” she says. “It's wonderful to see so many natural fibers, including bamboo, wood from sustainable forests and décor made from recycled materials.”
Davis is enthusiastic every day to be doing the job she always wanted. “I have the benefit of loving what I do, and my store and design work is all a reflection of that,” she says. “Currently, I'm excited to work with clients' outdoor spaces and to refresh their interiors with colorful fabrics.”
