When Blanche Herne first laid eyes on her North Little Rock home, she saw a world of potential. “I've always wanted an older home, something very traditional,” Blanche says. She and her husband Charles went to work, renovating the 1930s house by expanding the porch and extending the roofline. With this new addition, the porch became the perfect place to relax, providing shade throughout the day.

Caladium leaves in rustic urns add character to the entryway, tastefully complementing the classic décor. The striking white columns play up the home's timeless structure, while the door, custom made by Greenfield Millworks in North Little Rock, is enhanced by Bullseye glass imported from Germany.

Blanche's true love is the property's expansive garden with lush Japanese maples and delicate azaleas planted along the front path. Boston ivy grows against the back of the house, mixing East Coast elegance with Southern Charm. The impeccably manicured lawn acts as a shining testament to its owners' green thumb. “I've always said I should have been a farmer,” says Blanche. “I just love taking care of my plants.”
