Little Rock resident Judy Caruthers has been in the interior design business for 18 years, and she most recently turned her talents to her own home. “I purchased this house three years ago, and immediately began a large remodel,” she says. “The previous owners had made major strides to update the exterior, including adding the eyelid roof line above the door and installing the plantation shutters. For such a ranch-style home with strong horizontal lines, the addition of vertical lines was key.”

While the previous homeowners installed the Shaker-style front door, Judy replaced the stainless-steel hardware with rubbed bronze versions to match the gas lanterns, which she also installed. “Having the house numbers, hardware and lanterns in the same hue makes a huge visual impact,” she says.
