Inspired by cozy, organic elements, Storybook Homes reinvents a Conway bath
More space and a streamlined style were top of mind when homeowner Tiffany Keathley called Niki Thompson of Storybook Homes to help renovate her master bath. Having seen Niki’s work around Conway, Tiffany admired her ability to start a project with a theme and carry it throughout a home.
One of the must-haves in the new space was a soaking tub. “I take a bath every day, so I wanted a place where I could just relax,” she says. Previously, a fiberglass shower sat across from the room’s toilet. Taking in square footage from an adjacent bedroom allowed for the creation of a separate water closet and a dedicated wet area, which includes the freestanding tub and an open shower across from it. “Layouts are one of my favorite things to work on. This allowed us to get all the features she wanted without relocating the window or stealing space from the vanity area,” Niki says.
As for aesthetics, Tiffany was originally drawn to what Niki describes as a more glam look; however, she began to bring in inspiration with Scandinavian and European pieces, and they soon discovered her style was more natural and organic.
From the earthy palette and textured accents to the vintage rug, a grounded yet modern look flows throughout the bath. The room’s existing double vanity was functional but received a style refresh with a coat of gray paint as well as new hardware and countertops. In the wet space, what Niki calls a dressier version of subway tile was laid in a vertical fashion with larger than average grout lines. “This is such a small detail that goes a long way visually,” the designer says. Now, not only does Tiffany have a new bath to enjoy, but also a better sense of how she wants her home to feel as she continues to make updates, applying the new style in each area.
Inspired by a similar piece, Tiffany drew the charcoal figure seen over the tub.
