In Stuttgart, a full remodel yields a relaxed yet refined kitchen and bath
When Amy Terry and the team at AC Designs first walked through this Stuttgart home, it had been completely demoed. “Some things had been ordered and some plans were in progress, but the homeowner realized he needed help,” Amy recalls. Eager to continue construction and get the house back in a livable condition, she took a look at the existing plans and made tweaks that would achieve the “comfortable, functional” look her client desired.
In the kitchen and bath, she worked with Charlotte Lefler of Little Rock’s Kitchen & Bath Ideas on space planning, surfaces, and cabinetry. “Charlotte was instrumental in the beginning phases. She helped us get the ball rolling, and she continued to work with us on selections and finalizing details,” Amy says. With the entire home under renovation, they took the opportunity to bring in a unifying, neutral palette that flows throughout the spaces. “I do love color, but for things that are permanent, neutrals are such a good, long-term option. You can change out pillows or rugs over time to bring in the colors you love,” Amy says.
In the kitchen, these neutrals include white oak cabinetry that extends to the ceiling for maximum storage as well as Cambria “Everleigh” countertops, which have warm gray and tan hues. “The client came to us with the idea to use the countertop material on the backsplash and an inspiration picture that showed the application on the hood as well,” Charlotte says of the statement-making feature. The oversized pendants, which Amy notes have a more “masculine and casual” feel thanks to their disc shape and cement hue, also adhere to the neutral scheme. Across from the island, black metal is introduced on a display case that houses a mix of family heirlooms and new finds. A separate area that connects the kitchen to the home’s back entrance was transformed into a beverage center. With a coffee bar, drink cooler, and a counter for service, it’s not only a great place to grab a to-go drink, but also a convenient bar station when hosting. “This space is central to all the rooms, so it’s ideal for entertaining,” Amy says. “The entire kitchen really flows so well when there’s a large gathering.”
For continuity, Amy carried many of the same finishes and hues into the home’s more private spaces, including the primary bath. Making good use of the square footage, the functional design features a walk-in shower with a bench on one side of the room and a soaking tub on the opposite end. Both the walls and cabinetry are covered in Sherwin-Williams’ “Alabaster,” giving a clean, seamless look, while a mix of gold and black finishes adds interest throughout the room. “It’s such a cozy, happy place to be, and I love how every space fits together,” Amy says of the completed project.

All in the Details
In the primary bath, design elements like the organically shaped knobs and pulls on the cabinetry, transitional-style sconces, and wall-mount tub faucet adhere to the relaxed, modern feel of the home. Amy sourced works from Little Rock artist Emily Cobb to bring a sense of calm to the tub space, while a Turkish rug introduces color and a cozy feel underfoot.
