Rounding out our week of style tips, Sharon Mosley has prepared a Top 6 list, so to speak, of her favorite (and surprisingly affordable) holiday pieces. They’re for the woman who wants to stand out from the bunch, who wants to put a unique twist on how she dresses for those special occasions. After all, who doesn’t mind being the center of attention every now and then? (See more of Sharon’s tips here.)
Great ideas, Sharon. Personally, we can’t wait to get our hands on those red shoes…
Must-Have Pieces for Holiday Dressing
Don’t stress out just because you have to “dress out†for all those holiday parties. This is supposed to be a season for celebration (aren’t we all so ready for it!), so remember to have fun and do it in style! Here are my top fashion picks for this party season:
Start with some major accessories. This is an easy way to update your favorite little black dress! Go for long, layered necklaces and mix your metals! Don’t be afraid to mix gold and silver or bronze and pewter. Add sparkle with an oversized vintage brooch. Better yet, attach a statement-making pin to a strand of your grandmother’s pearls!
For a very modern touch, be sure to mix it up when it comes to your clothes, too. Check out the latest holiday look from Banana Republic: a soft mohair sweater paired with a slinky silk dress and “toughened” up with black opaque hose, leather gloves and lace-up boots.
If you’re looking for a new way to get some chills (and thrills) going this holiday season, look for a festive dress or top with the trendy one-shoulder silhouette like this one from Jovani.
Another way to stand out from the crowd at a holiday party is to get creative in a special evening coat, wrap or vest – an “artistic†piece that you can slide over jeans and a turtleneck for more casual occasions or a lace skirt and satin tank for dressier parties.
Go for color! In a sea of holiday black, you’ll be sure to up the glam factor. One of my favorite holiday hues this year is a gorgeous teal blue like this dress from New York Anna Sui’s new guest designer collection at Target.
And don’t forget the sparkle! Put on your twinkle toes and glitter in metallic peep-toe pumps or slivers of silver ballet flats. Or better yet, these vampy high heel ruby red satin evening sandals decked out with crystals from Stuart Weitzman. Dorothy never had this much fun in the land of Oz!
