However, as styles and their family changed, they found their needs and tastes had evolved as well. A jaw-dropping view of the Arkansas River is the focal point of an ethereal master bathroom

Scott Paterek and Tammie Weaver of Massimo Interior Design worked in close collaboration with the owners of a riverfront Little Rock home to renovate their master bathroom and transform what was formerly a cramped and confining space into an everyday spa experience. From the custom LED down lighting—which allows the couple to transition seamlessly from evening to night—to the oversized rainfall showerhead, every detail of the space is intended to delight the senses. The result is a retreat—elegant but not extravagant—that invites self-care and produces an atmosphere of total calm.

Serene in the City

A view of the Arkansas River and its woodlands encourage a Little Rock couple to renovate a home to fit their needs

Looking to bring a sense of calm to their routine, a Little Rock couple set out to find a new home where they could spread out a bit, relax and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. Hoping for a river view, their options were limited. When a classically styled house on a quiet street came available, they knew that with a little imagination—and help from a trusted team of experts—they could transform it to suit their needs perfectly.

At first glance, the home wasn’t exactly dream-worthy. In fact, it was just the opposite of what this couple had in mind. But the red brick Georgian-style house did have a few things going for it; namely, a view of the Arkansas River and beyond. Inside, a small galley kitchen, dark hallways, and low ceilings didn’t suit the couple’s taste or lifestyle, so they called on architect Tom Fennell and designer Bill Beringer to bring the space to life.

High on a bluff overlooking the Arkansas River in Little Rock, designers Scott Paterek and Tammie Weaver of Massimo Interior Design turned a home into a little slice of Europe. After the home’s reconstruction, the central Arkansas-based design team was brought in for what the homeowner calls “phase II,” the interiors of the home. Paterek and Weaver took inventory of the homeowner’s collection of antiques and set to work to create an elegant, yet relaxed space for family and friends.
