At Home in Arkansas: What are your three must-have items for this Fall? Shayla Copas: Orange (cayenne) with Blue (royal navy) are going to be hot for fall, so my “must haves” are within this color story. The Worlds Away Anna Bar White Lacquer Bar cabinet with it’s bamboo detailing and gold gilted hardware is at the top of my list for sure. I would also say that the Lisa Kahn Blue Splatter lamp by Chelsea House is a must have as well! Little Rock native and artist Emily Cobb is painting fabulous treasures and any of her pieces is a good investment for your space. I also love the set of Golden Twig Sculptures by John Richard. They are fabulous for placing on a coffee table by books are on a bookshelf.
AHIA: What is your favorite paint color at the moment? SC: I have been leaning towards fresh whites as of late because there is nothing more classic than a white room with the layering of color in accessories, fabrics and art. I love Sherwin Williams Roman Column.
AHIA: Name a design trend or product you’ve been dying to try. SC: A design product I have been dying to try is the Maya Romanoff Beadazzled Sparkle Geode wallcovering in the color Sandstone. I just love the sparkle and texture. Maya Romanoff is one of my absolute favorite products.
AHIA: What is one design secret you can share with our readers? SC: My favorite Staple is a cream sofa! The cream sofa is “the little black dress” of the design industry! The no-commitment, versatile piece that can change as easily as swapping pillows. I always have a cream sofa in my home! Right now I have mint green and light yellow pillows on mine but you never know, in a year I could be sporting an entirely new color scheme! Also…Go with your GUT! If you automatically LOVE something, chances are that you will love the same piece five years from now. But always remember that not all elements in a design will give you this type of reaction as they stand alone. It is a combination of the elements that will give you that WOW factor! Trust your instincts but also give some room to your designer to use his or her creativity.
