Ever wonder which items your favorite designers, tastemakers and folks about town just can’t live without? We definitely do! To sate our curiosity, we’re kicking off a new blog column in which we ask a different person to share a few of their favorite things each week. Editor in Chief Diane Carroll has graciously agreed to jump in first, and we’re loving her picks!
1. My Lee Industries high-back wing chair.
This is an accent chair in our family room (it’s actually in a red and white print, but the shape is the same), and that high back and curved arms make it a perfect place to work on my laptop–you’ll find me here in the evenings, pinning on Pinterest, with my doggies sitting at my feet. AND the biggest bonus is that Lee Industries is a U.S. company with environmentally-friendly construction and business practices, and each chair is basically handmade.
2. West Third Brand Gardenia di Vita candles and room spray.
A thoughtful friend sent me a gift set a few years ago, and I’ve been addicted ever since. It’s a floral but not too sweet scent.
3. Fresh flowers, especially from this place.
No need to go crazy on big arrangements, just add a few flowers in bud vases or cups, something in season that’s fresh and affordable. Flora in downtown Fayetteville is my favorite source–walking in the door and seeing what finds they have always makes me happy.
I love a stripe. My husband pointed out to me awhile back that I have now successfully added at least one striped item to every room in the house. Part of the credit goes to Dash & Albert, with wonderful striped rugs that I use as a dash (pun intended) of color in a room.
5. Lots of vases, including my favorite Eva Zeisel Upright vase trio.
After years of styling houses for photo shoots, I’ve ended up with a pretty large vase collection. All the better to display my own flowers! This trio of vases by the acclaimed mid-century modern sculptor Eva Zeisel is my favorite, as they look great with just a few flowers or even empty, thanks to the curvy shapes.
