Holiday Charm
A palette of red, gold, and green mixed with meaningful seasonal accents enliven a Little Rock family home at Christmas

Spend a few minutes with designer Krista Lewis and you’ll know just why the West Little Rock home she shares with her husband Dan and their three young children overflows with life and holiday spirit. Whether she’s working on a client’s renovation or freshening her own home for guests, Lewis is relaxed, welcoming, and ready for a challenge. Much like Lewis herself, her two-story home appears to bustle with its own sense of merriment; from the traditional red-and-green Christmas décor to the flurry of family-centered holiday activities, every wall is alive with the spirit of the season.

A Sportsman’s Paradise
Screaming Wings Lodge—the duck-season outpost of Witt Stephens Jr.—maximizes comfort and experience for guests and provides access to world-class waterfowl hunting
In 2008, longtime-client Witt Stephens Jr. charged interior designer Bill Beringer with the task of making of his imposing new hunting lodge a well-appointed, private retreat versatile enough to accommodate groups of all sizes and to foster a sense of intimacy and relaxation among visitors. From the outset, the owner had specific ideas about how the lodge would function and how it would look; “Ultimately,” Beringer says, “we wanted it to reflect him. He’s an avid hunter, but he’s also a businessman who needs an inviting place to entertain.”

Rewriting the Rules
Knowing the rules and always playing by them are two different things. Designer Joshua Plumlee uses color, art, and custom furnishings to shake up traditional design and to make this home a reflection of its fun-loving owners.
When Julie and Jason Smith and their two children moved into a home in the Heights neighborhood of Little Rock, they turned to designer Joshua Plumlee with Cobblestone & Vine to help bridge the gap between the classic look of the house and their distinctive personal style. “They are just a very interesting family;” Plumlee says, “they’re quirky and fun, with great taste in art. The house is very traditional, and it’s in a very traditional neighborhood, and the design needed to make sense in that context. But we also wanted to have some fun with colors and art—stepping outside of what is expected.” The result is a moody and glamorous—yet inviting—home that delights in its own eccentricities and offers a unique take on traditional home decor.

Classic Twist
A homeowner’s worst nightmare turned into a chic new bath for this Fayetteville shop owner
Old Man Winter brought more than snow and ice to one Fayetteville home: he brought an unplanned renovation. “A pipe behind a wall in the bathroom burst, and flooded the living room and kitchen below,” explains homeowner Erin Bridges. “I immediately called on Chris Goddard—who was doing some work in my boutique at the time—because I knew he could put it all back together.” Bridges, who owns Fayetteville’s Tesori, a bridal and formalwear boutique, as well as a Lilly Pulitzer shop known as The Pink Pig, packed up her family and moved out for four months while work on the house was completed. “I trusted Chris completely,” she says. “He did me the courtesy of showing me his plans in advance, but I knew I would love whatever he came up with.”

A Smooth Transition
Unique finishes, sleek features, and abundant storage define a small kitchen that is big on style
When it comes to keeping a home, more is not always more. Such was the case for Diann Hurley, who recently downsized to a new home on a golf course in Northwest Arkansas. “I have about half of the square footage that I did in my last home, but am finding that I could actually live with even less,” she says.
