At Home in Arkansas: What are your 3 must have items for the new year?
Katie Henry: 1) Anything sheepskin! Throw a sheepskin rug on a chair, ottoman or even at the foot of a bed in any room and it adds a surprise element to any space, but it also creates an inviting place to take a seat. 2) Oriental antiques. They are so timeless and still add warmth and class to any space. 3) Ribba frames from Ikea. If you start looking around my website you will see that I am little obsessed with art groupings. I love to frame anything and everything. From real arrows, vintage encyclopedia pages, and of course custom artwork. Anything framed in groupings of 6-10 frames is guaranteed to make a statement in any room. These Ribba frames from ikea are so affordable and they are available in sizes that are easy to incorporate in most rooms.
AHIA: What is your favorite paint color at the moment?
Katie Henry: Collonade Gray by Sherwin-Williams
AHIA: What is the last thing you purchased for a client?
Katie Henry: Grace farmhouse china cabinet from Gabby Home. Gorgeous.
AHIA: Is there a design trend or product you are dying to try or purchase for a client in 2014?
Katie Henry: Kelly green velvet fabric. Please someone let me put a kelly green velvet couch in your living room. 😉
AHIA: What is one design secret you can share with our readers?
Katie Henry: A little bit of lacquer can go a long way in your home! Don’t be afraid to glam up your furniture and add some shine to your life! Amy Howard at Home makes a great, easy to use lacquer spray paint if you want to transform something in your own space. Or think outside the box.. Call your local autobody car shop! There are autobody car shops that take in your furniture and they will put the perfect high quality lacquer paint on your beloved old pieces that are ready for a makeover. Obviously call ahead. Don’t just show up with your eight-foot mirror. They may think you are crazy.
Thanks, Katie!
