A Little Rock entrepreneur encourages fans to “kiss the competition goodbye.”
As a producer, casting agent, stylist and makeup artist, it’s no wonder that Little Rock’s Brooke Duszota is intrigued by all facets of the production world. It was this interest that led her to begin researching the specifics of cosmetic formulation, wanting to create products that were highly pigmented and able to last under hot studio lighting. “With a degree in marketing, years of experience in sales, a background in modeling and certification in makeup, it was a natural transition for me to wholeheartedly embrace the entrepreneurial calling,” she says. In 2009, Duszota created Bellisima Beauty, a line of photo- and film-quality cosmetics.

The next year, Duszota was attending her first Arkansas Razorbacks football game when inspiration struck. “I loved the energy from the fans dressed in red with painted faces, both their enthusiasm and the joy that surrounded the event,” she says. Inspired to contribute to this state pride, she began developing a high-impact red lip gloss especially for Razorback fans. Soon, Woo Pig Smoochie lip gloss was being sold in stores across the state. Since then, Duszota has developed two sorority glosses as well—Kiss a Kappa and Pucker Up Pi Phi, with more in the works.

With a name like Gingiber, which happens to be Latin for ginger, it may not be a surprise to find a flavorful array of colorful, whimsical designs in the online shop’s ever-growing selection. However, Stacie Bloomfield’s home décor and gift line was actually inspired by her family rather than its spicy moniker. “When I was expecting our first daughter, I was excited to decorate her room, but I couldn’t find anything I truly loved,” says Bloomfield. “So my husband encouraged me to make my own.”
