Designer Larry West, Jr. had been working for this family for decades when he finally got the chance to tackle their kitchen. While the layout of the space barely needed tweaking, he went to work adding amenities that would help the homeowners enjoy one of their favorite areas of the house even more. He gave the space luxe finishings—including polished chrome appliances, warm gold hardware, mirrored cabinetry, and detailed marble flooring—to make it a kitchen that will remain timeless for years to come.

A Little Rock couple thinks upward to gain space (and style!) for their family

When Sarah and Russell Brantley bought their Heights cottage in 2008, they planned to be there seven to 10 years. However, as they began to get to know the neighborhood families and have children of their own, they became attached. “I was selling real estate for the Janet Jones Company at the time, so I was constantly in and out of houses all over the neighborhood: new, old, remodels, homes with additions, and I just kept falling more in love with our current house,” Sarah says. Rather than moving to a new neighborhood, they decided to remedy their need for more space (they were expecting their second child at the time) with the addition of a second story as well as updates to the ground floor. Along with architect Carolyn Lindsey, designers and longtime family friends Christy Snowden Davis and Elaine Green contributed to the early stages of planning the renovation.

A palette of cool hues brings coastal charm to a family’s forever home

Designer Chandler Bailey started working with a family of five on this new construction home in Little Rock in the very, very early stages of planning—in fact, at the time, a completely different house stood in the lot. “I met with the homeowner with just the contractor’s drawings before they’d even torn down the house yet,” Chandler says. Knowing that they loved the neighborhood but not the house, the family brought in a talented team to help create their dream home from the ground up.

A fresh palette, contemporary accessories, and charming details make for a nursery that can evolve as this little girl grows

When homeowners Jaimie and Steve Moss called their interior designer, Brittany Nixon Brun, with a new project request, they gave her a strict timeline: nine months. Having worked with the couple on both their primary residence in Little Rock and their lake house, Brittany knew their style and was excited to create a nursery for the pair’s first child, which they learned would be a girl.

Bright, eclectic, and budget-friendly (yes!), this Hot Springs condo brings a smile to everyone who walks through its front door

Designer Susan Walsh of Little Rock’s Bear Hill Interiors feels like she’s come full circle with this couple’s Hot Springs lakeside retreat. “I worked with them more than 13 years ago on the main living areas of the condo, and recently I got the chance to completely redo the entire place,” she says. The couple had thought of selling the getaway, but when plans fell through they decided to hang on to it and hire Susan to give it a style upgrade.

Designer Daniel Keeley helps a family create a camp-style retreat amidst a natural setting in North Arkansas

Small, secluded, and serene—Jasper, Arkansas, is the type of getaway that invites relaxation and togetherness. That’s precisely why this family chose to make it their home away from home. “They found this property on the Little Buffalo River and bought it with the idea of creating a family retreat,” says exterior designer Daniel Keeley, who worked closely with the owners on the grounds, outdoor living areas, and two guest cabins.

Designer Jill White shares the black-and-white and loved all over beauty of her Little Rock home

Jill White’s interest in interior design started at an early age, and for it, she has grandparents on both sides of the family to thank. Growing up on a farm in rural Arkansas, Jill spent a lot of time at her paternal grandfather’s hardware store, Altheimer Lumber Company. “I’ve been around builders my whole life,” Jill says. “My first job was at my grandfather’s hardware store. Every summer my sister and I worked there. We answered phones and mixed paint. I’ve always been around that scene and interested in it.” These days, Jill’s the one on construction sites, checking boxes off her list on a new build that might include scalloped millwork in a daughter’s bathroom or the perfect black-and-white tile for a master bath.
