A Bentonville family enlists designer Riley Lindley to transform their kitchen’s style and functionality
After more than a decade in their home, Nikki and Mike Keller were ready to update one of their most-used and most-loved rooms: the kitchen. “She called and said, We are doing a project, and I have no idea where to start. Can you help?” recalls interior designer Riley Lindley, who was recommended by the Kellers’ contractor, Home Concerns. After hitting it off, Riley—who is part of a team of four at ESI Design, the firm her mother, Edith Snell, started decades prior—talked with the family about their needs and wishes

A midcentury marvel gets a modern, mountain-inspired update
There was so much to love in this Fayetteville kitchen, including soaring ceilings and sleek bones, when designer Whitney Romanoff’s clients bought the house. “It was E. Fay Jones-inspired,” Whitney says, referencing the local Mad Men-era architect. And yet the cook space’s existing finishes weren’t quite reflective of this family and how they want to live in 2024. “It had a very ’90s, early 2000s aesthetic,” Whitney says, noting its previous metallic backsplash tile and clunky lighting. “We did a full material glow-up.”

When the worst happened, these homeowners took the opportunity to design a dream bath
They say necessity is the mother of invention. In this case, it was the motivation behind a primary bath renovation. After learning the underground sewer line to their 2001 house had not been properly connected in 15 years, Robin and Mike Rogers embarked on a full makeover to fix the problem.

Tilden House freshens up a 1960s kitchen with a mix of classic and colorful ingredients
When designer Nikki Hastings was enlisted to revamp a Little Rock family of four’s cook space, it was still mired in the year the house was built: 1968. “The kitchen that we remodeled was original to the French colonial home,” recalls Nikki, founder of Little Rock design firm Tilden House. Translation: a woody, nearly cellar-like throwback. “We wanted it to feel like it fit because we were definitely keeping the architectural lines and integrity of what was currently there, but we also wanted to make it theirs—to bring it more to the present day and to make it function for their family.”

Designer Beth Reed updates a Conway kitchen with a clean approach to layout and aesthetics
Improved functionality and a lighter palette were top of mind when Paige and David Revis contacted interior designer Beth Reed. Having lived in their home since the 1990s, small updates had been made as trends evolved but their kitchen’s flow still offered limited space for cooking and conversation. Not only had the Revises known Beth personally for years, they had seen her work in friends’ homes and trusted her to execute on both goals.

Designer Kristen Booth updates her home’s primary bath, making full use of the space and creating calm in the process
Is this the house?” It was a phrase that echoed in Kristen Booth’s mind when she first saw pictures of what is now her west Little Rock home. At the time, Kristen and her family were living in Virginia and working remotely with local Realtor Brandy Harp when she became excited about the promise of this listing. “It needed some love but it had great bones, the price was right, and I knew we could make it what we wanted,” she says.

Antiques, pattern, and color don’t sleep in this primary bedroom makeover
We have an appreciation for older homes but not the patience,” admits the owner of this Little Rock residence. After recently purchasing a home built in 2021, she and her husband were eager to give the spaces—notably their bedroom—a curated-over-time feel. Seeing designer Jen Bienvenu’s work in the home of friends prompted them to reach out for her help. “Her style is different yet familiar at the same time,” the homeowner says. “I wanted our bedroom to be comfortable and warm but not feel cluttered.”

A Little Rock dining room update mixes formality with flair

When Drs. Kevan Beth and Steven Meadors returned to their home state of Arkansas, they were eager to settle into the Heights neighborhood of Little Rock where Steven grew up. “We love this location; there’s so much charm, and you can easily walk to restaurants and shops,” Kevan Beth says. With a volatile housing market in 2021, it took them a bit to find just the right place. “We have three small children, so this house attracted me because it has a lot of space,” she recalls. However, many of its contemporary design elements didn’t suit their traditional style. Still, Kevan Beth saw the potential and has since begun working room-by-room to make the house their own, starting with the dining room.

Ashley Brewer Interiors gives a dark and dated bath in Marion the spa treatment

When Sarah and Bill Burrows moved into their Marion home in 2017, redesigning the primary bath didn’t top the priority list. But five years later, when a leak forced them to pull out the shower tiles, the timing felt right to renovate the dark and dated space. Having worked with designer Ashley Brewer to redo one of their children’s bedrooms, the couple called on her again to create a streamlined new bathroom with traditional touches to tie it to the rest of the home.
