For this year’s January market, I had the extraordinary opportunity to attend Las Vegas Market as a #ViewOnVegas Instagram takeover trend spotter and had a blast spotlighting several fabulous products. I think our time in Vegas only confirmed my “take” on where the industry is headed. The products below are different from those we highlighted at market, but our time in Vegas provided us the inspiration to share our take below.
In 2014, blue and white once again sauntered back into the design trade. As we enter 2017, the combo is still marching strong, but with the addition of colorful accents. Daleno’s “Jewels of Prince II” art on canvas is a stellar example of the direction that the industry is taking. We love the combo of blue/white mixed with green and magenta. Did you notice the shade of green? You guessed it, Greenery: Pantone’s Color of the Year! Photo credit: Daleno Art.
Tape trim has been back for a couple of years, however, in 2017 it will become “bigger” than ever! And I literally mean BIG! Our showroom samples are arriving in much larger widths than in previous years. I ADORE a hefty trim, and this is one of my favorites! Scalamandre’s Leopard Velvet Tape is a luxurious cut velvet and is 4 ½ inches in width which is SMALL compared to the majority of samples we have received this month. The average has been around 6 ½ inches. We are encouraging our clients to make a statement by considering large tape trim at the bottom of a sofa skirt, on euro shams, or applied to tall, glamorous drapery. Photo credit: Scalamandre
We have fallen in LOVE with Global View’s Julia Buckingham Trinket Boxes. These acrylic boxes adorned with gold chain link gams would work perfectly in the dressing room of any fashionista! They are available in three colors and are ideal for storing your jewels. Let’s face it, acrylic has been around awhile and is not leaving anytime soon. Photo credit: Global Views
Speaking of blue and white…let me introduce you to one of Thibaut’s newest introductions from October’s High Point Market. Their Daintree wallcovering pattern is stunning and would look gorgeous in a powder room! Photo Credit: Thibaut
We are mixing metals more than ever this year, and it is not uncommon to see several metal finishes combined in a room. I adore Cyan Designs Milan pendant in silver leaf. This particular shade is perfect if you can’t seem to commit to silver or gold. Its warm silver finish mixes well with other metals. Photo credit: Cyan Designs
Backsplash tile is substantially larger and has more pattern and texture than ever! We have a design crush on the tile pictured above by Walker Zanger. Their 18 x 20 Fretwork interlocking tile in their Studio Moderne collection comes in five natural shades. Photo credit: Walker Zanger
We love Jaipur Living’s new Aston rug. It’s made of a super soft bamboo silk! The distressed beige and gray pattern is artistic and inspiring. Photo credit: Jaipur Living
To sum it up..mixing metals is en vogue, acrylic furniture is still hot, blue/white combined with bold color is trending, large tape trims are BIG, and substantial backsplash tile with texture is IN! I hope you enjoyed glancing through the highlighted products. We would love to hear your thoughts, and we look forward to sharing more trends as the year develops.
XOXO,
