Let the countdown begin to the Fourth of July long weekend! We here at At Home have our typical “what month is it?” confusion occurring–the July issue just came out and we’re readying it to go live on the web, August is off to press, we’re working on September, and photographing gardens so we’ll have good outdoor places for you to enjoy next spring. Yes, our heads do spin around regularly.
All of which means that we especially enjoy holidays that ground us with a particular time and place, like celebrating July 4th and enjoying summer. For my own holiday celebration, I’ve been gathering ideas from the dining room makeover of one of our Arkansas’ Best contest winners from the July issue (which is on newsstand, maybe in your home already, and will be on web this week).
It’s the dining room of designer, blogger, and do-it-yourself maven Jerusalem Greer (check out her blog, Jolly Goode Gal, which is always fun, funny and fresh). Red and white walls, a table she painted blue, and sweet vintage-inspired curtains just sing “summery” to me.
You’ll see from her blog that a few good finds, some arts and crafts materials and lots of creative inspiration are the tools that she uses to decorate. Personally, I’m thinking of “borrowing” her cupcake flag idea for our July 4th celebration. (I noticed Jerusalem had some fun summer project ideas on her blog too, take a peek).
In case you missed it:
Jerusalem did a wonderful Mother’s Day celebration guest blog post for us. I think the blue and pink color palette she used could easily be spun to blue and red for the 4th! Lots of creative inspiration, enjoy.
