After Tracy Cate and her husband bought a condo in Fayetteville to use when in town for Razorback games and visiting friends and family, they tapped Krista Crouch and Heidi Burks of K + H Collaborative to redesign the cookie-cutter kitchen into something special. “Their Little Rock home is very traditional. It’s an all-white kitchen with classic touches,” Krista says. “So this time around, she wanted something bold and fun.”

For Miah Millan, moving into her new home presented the opportunity to fill the space with character and charm. As an interior designer herself, she envisioned giving the 1980 Conway residence a “modern Mediterranean feel,” which is a nod to her husband’s culture. “Eduard is from Spain, and we’ve been lucky enough to get to travel there and experience the architecture and interior design,” Miah says. “I really fell in love with that style, so I wanted to bring that into our home and blend it with American style.”

When a longtime client contacted Talena Ray about updating a bedroom in her house, it wasn’t the primary suite she had in mind. “She called me and wanted to redo a guest bedroom upstairs, and I talked her into doing this room instead,” Talena says with a laugh. Having collaborated with the homeowner on previous projects, including a home office and several bathroom updates, Talena had grown to know her well. “She works really hard and she travels a lot. I said, ‘Why don’t we begin with your bedroom, because you deserve a calming refuge.’”

After seven years in their Roland home, the time was finally right for Kricia Palmer and her husband, Jon, to update their primary bathroom. The house was built in 2007 with some of the period’s usual hallmarks: travertine tile floor, dark antique bronze fixtures, and warm lighting. “It just felt drab,” Kricia says. “I focus a lot on how I feel in different spaces, and I wanted to be able to pick out clothes, put on makeup, and get ready in a space that felt luxurious and relatively timeless.”

Such was the case with designer Kathryn LeMaster’s clients in Fayetteville, a young family in need of a kitchen remodel. “They had been in the house for about four years,” Kathryn says, noting that the time they spent living in the space helped them determine a list of priorities: new flooring, better flow, lighter style, and more personality. “The before was dark and dysfunctional, and the cabinets felt worn from previous owners,” the designer says.

When Ginger and Brian Quinn were ready to update their kitchen, they knew just who to call: Julie Enfinger, an interior designer at Little Rock’s Cobblestone & Vine. As an employee of Cobblestone & Vine herself, Ginger was sure her friend and coworker would be up to the task while incorporating some of the contemporary elegance the store is known for.Upon first viewing the kitchen, Julie noticed bronze hardware and heavy light fixtures coupled with a wooden island surface made the room feel weighted. “We really wanted to brighten, refresh, and lighten the space to make it more cohesive with the house,” she says.
