Have you ever had an old lamp rewired? Antique lamps from flea markets or vintage stores might lack the juice to light a room like they once did, but proper rewiring can give them a second life. Add a modern paint color or refinish them for a truly unique look. Other “green” options include having an old bottle, vase or urn wired and fitted with a shade to create a one-of-a-kind lamp.

But, as someone who knows the latest-and-greatest, what does she prefer? For this week’s Monday Must Haves, we asked her to share a few things she can’t live without.
1. Olive Anorak Call me crazy, but I loathe putting on a coat. I’ve always dressed in layers to stay cozy, but there are still times when I need a little something heavier, enter olive anorak. Olive is so easy to pair with almost any color, and the lightweight fabric is great as an extra layer without the overwhelming, stuffy, coat-like feel. Also, it’s super simple to transition from season to season.
2. Kate Spade Tech Accessories I almost always have my phone in hand, MacBook in lap, or iPad floating around somewhere to and from the shop. Kate Spade has the best tech accessories to jazz up my multitasking tech-driven life.
3. Clarisonic Taking care of my skin is very important and my Clarisonic makes it that much easier. It provides a different level of cleanliness and makes my skin soft and smooth while adding the perfect glow.
4. Blank Denim These jeans are the epitome of comfort. While I love long flowy dresses and fun fancy pants, there is nothing better than the perfect pair of jeans. Greatest Hits Skinny by BlankNYC is by far my favorite pair to wear dressed up or dressed down.
5. Red Lips… I’m a lover of red lips. Russian Red by MAC is the best for all-day wear without drying out my lips. It’s the perfect hue to take from morning until night, and does wonders for any smile.

Make your autumn décor last until the end of November. To accomplish this, gravitate towards a more natural look rather then a spooky one.
Create a colorful fall landscape by mixing in an assortment of pumpkins and gourds into your flowerbeds. Your front porch does not have to be the only focal point this season. All you have to do is mix and match different varieties of gourds and pumpkins into a simple design.
Their vibrant colors will out shine any flower. Remember fall is about “harvest†so the more the merrier. Be creative and create your very own custom layout.
 
Even over sized Prize Winner pumpkins scattered here and there in a landscape will look like your very own pumpkin patch. These oversized pumpkins are big enough to be seen tucked into any overgrown garden. Mix the colors orange and white for more visual impact.

Such great advice! We loved Allen’s antebellum plantation desk with its “sassy blue” exterior. In October 2010, we featured the breakfast room of Stephen and Wendy LaFrance, in which Bear-Hill Interiors lacquered a set of antique chairs and recovered the seats in durable vinyl. And this August, we featured the children’s rooms of Katie Henry, whose do-it-yourself approach gained her a few inexpensive yet statement-making furniture pieces.
