With roots in South Arkansas and a stint in Mississippi, Allison and Dennington Moss were bound to bring pieces of the Delta with them when they moved to Northwest Arkansas almost 12 years ago. Throughout their marriage, the couple has amassed antiques, cherished furnishings, and collectibles, picking up things as they found them or being fortunate to inherit them. “When we lived in Lake Village, we were just 45 minutes from Merigold, Mississippi, where McCarty Pottery is located. My wife acquired a number of pieces then before anyone really knew what it was,” Dennington says.

With Darrell nearing retirement after 14 years spent in Houston, the couple were thinking of their next phase of life when they decided to look at opportunities in The Natural State. “Arkansas is home for me,” Darrell says. “I went to U of A, and I have extended family and friends here.” Another plus: A central Arkansas home base puts them within a day’s drive of a lake house in Northern Michigan. “This ended up being the natural place for us, from a logistics perspective. A love of timeless style is on display in designer Brad Beach’s Fayetteville home

Historic homes seem to have a draw for designer Brad Beach. As a former product developer for brands like Hanes, Fossil watches, and Sara Lee, he has lived around the country—and always preferred to inhabit a home with a bit of character and age. When a job with Walmart prompted a move to Northwest Arkansas, he bought his first area home over the phone without ever laying eyes on it. Originally thinking he would work on the house and flip it, fate had other plans. He met his husband, Elkin Perez, who is a professor at the University of Arkansas, and his parents moved to town, giving him multiple reasons to stay in place for 15 years. “I love Northwest Arkansas, and that’s just how it happened,” he says. “So many people I meet say they aren’t going to stay here long, and then they spend the rest of their lives here.”

With three children ranging in age from 8 to 4 years old, having a place for everyone and everything was key to Lauren and Alex Blass. Initially, Melissa Hall Simmons of Studio MH created a nursery and big boy bedroom for their oldest, Bennett, but as the younger siblings, Bowen and Leighton, came into the picture, the team began to convert the guest rooms of the Blasses’ Rogers home into children’s bedrooms. “I wanted each space to feel distinct to each child,” Lauren says. “They are a young, active, lively family, and we wanted to give them a design that reflects that,” Melissa adds.
