While I love the hoopla leading up to the holidays, this quiet week between Christmas and New Years is my favorite time. All the busy work of decorating, shopping and cooking is done and I can sit back and enjoy our pretty house, happy kids and full frig (I’ll admit to being a fan of leftovers, too).
It’s a time of reflection, a time I pamper myself and relax a little more than usual. And as part of that reflection, I can’t help but think about the lovely homes I’ve been in this year and the gracious homeowners I’ve met. Over the next few weeks, as every media source makes lists of the highlights of 2009, we’d like to share with you some of our personal favorites.
A Quiet Retreat in the Country, overlooking the Ozark Mountains

Curling up in this cozy cottage outside Eureka Springs, with a stack of design mags and good books, hot tea and a fire in the fireplace sounds heavenly.

Homeowners Stan DuBois and Jeff Chapman, who own Vintage Cargo in Eureka Springs, say their favorite way to spend the morning is sitting at the breakfast table, watching wildlife roam around the hillside.

And at night, curling up in one of these cozy bedrooms would surely induce a good night’s sleep. Enjoy these lingering last days of ’09, relax and take care.
