A vivid Room of the Week. What do you think of this color combo?
by ark_admin
Baby it’s cold outside. As the frosty weather blows around, we’re dreaming of a cozy fireplace and curling up in an armchair. Our room of the week? One with a fireplace!
The combo of the stone fireplace, the warm tones of the rug, the dark leather chairs and the orange Venetian plaster accent wall all up the cozy-ness quotient. Love the idea of the large mirror too, reflecting the fire. You can read all about this warm yet oh-so-cool house in Conway, designed by Becky Charton, here.

This spring we’ll have an entire issue devoted to Before and After projects with lots of great how-to’s and ideas! And as we’re nailing down (pardon the pun) our story ideas, we’d like your opinion on renovation professionals and who you think is the best in the state.
and vote for your favorite pro, and we’ll include the top 10 names in our May Before and After issue. Voting ends on February 18th; vote for as many pros and as often as you like before then!

Color, color, color…this time of year has us thinking about little ways to brighten our rooms. One of my favorites is with flowers, and look how just a few yellow mums give this chic brown and white room an extra punch.
Designer Kevin Walsh of Bear-Hill Interiors used a Schumacher wallpaper to set the tone in this breakfast room in a Little Rock family home, then lacquered the chairs in white and added wipeable fabric on the seats to make them family friendly. A touch of yellow is all that was needed to brighten the palette–arranged in a few containers kept grouped on the table as a casual centerpiece.
What are your secrets for brightening rooms? We’ll share a few more color tricks-of-the-trade in the coming weeks.
